Food Handler Card and Course Information

  • Required for all Cabell County employees that handle food and/or wash dishes.
  • Geared toward reducing food borne illness and provide sanitary food practices.
  • The Course covers proper food handling practices that are required in the 1999 FDA Food Code Manual. This manual is what is currently being used.
  • Employees shall obtain a valid food handler card within thirty (30) days upon hire.
  • A copy of this card shall be retained at the place of employment.
  • Pre-registration is required - please call (304) 523-6483 x 262 to schedule for class. It is suggested that you be 10-15 minutes early, NO latecomers allowed.
  • Class will last about two (2) hours.
  • Classes are given every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month at 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
  • All classes will be taught at the Cabell-Huntington Health Department located at 703 7th Avenue in Huntington.
